About

With a name like Laura Williams, it can be easy to disappear into the World Wide Web (hence the added ‘K’). I’m not the loud-mouthed Welsh girl who was on Big Brother, I’m not the teenager who mothered conjoined twins and I’m not Vanessa Feltz’s personal trainer…

Instead, I am a fully NCE-trained freelance journalist/editor, with a wealth of experience in writing news and features for national and regional newspapers, magazines and websites and running social media channels as well as significant experience in commercial copywriting, marketing and PR and a more recent focus on fundraising, events and promotion. My multimedia skills include video making and editing, photography and radio presenting.

I am currently working as Deputy Editor of the award-winning online newspaper Bristol 24-7  (South West Website of the Year in the EDF Energy Media Awards 2011 + 2012 and Highly Commended as Best Local News Website in the UK in the Online Media Awards 2012); with specific responsibility for all of the entertainment pages and election coverage. I am also the founder of Figure 8 Festival, the first of which took place in Dorset in 2012 – raising more than £5,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support; I am now working on the next event, which takes place in Bristol in September 2013.

On top of this, I regularly contribute articles and features to a growing number of publications, including Louder Than War, The Fly and Virtual Festivals. And I specialise in looking after social media for a number of organisations.
